Valorización de los derivados de biomasa.

Investigación Actual:
La actual línea de investigación se centra en la valorización de los derivados de la biomasa en biocombustibles y productos químicos de alto valor agregado mediante catálisis heterogénea, basado en el concepto de “Bio-Refinería". Se han estudiados diferentes nanopartículas metálicas, de sulfuros y óxidos de metales de transición soportadas sobre Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, CeO2, SiO2-Al2O3, carbón activados, entre otros. Se han estudiado el efecto del contenido metálico y de la fuerza acida de los soportes en la síntesis de hidrocarburos desoxigenados. También, se han realizado estudios cinéticos y de mecanismo de reacción en reactor batch y en continuo con el objetivo de dilucidar los sitios activos que participan en la conversión de moléculas modelos de los derivados de la biomasa. En todos estos sistemas de nanopartículas soportadas se han utilizado diferentes técnicas fisicoquímicas para correlacionar estructura con reactividad. Algunas técnicas utilizadas han sido: XPS, DRX, TEM, TPR, FTIR, adsorción y desorción de N2, quimisorción de CO, entre otras.
