Líneas de Investigación

Las líneas de investigación abordan distintas estrategias de reconversión de dióxido de carbono ya sea en combustibles líquidos o productos con valor agregado. Para lograr este objetivo se utilizan técnicas fotoquímicas, electroquímicas y foto-electroquímicas utilizando catalizadores y electrocatalizadores tales como, porfirinas multimetálicas, electrocatalizadores híbridos semiconductor-compuesto de coordinación y semiconductores nanocristalinos

Los compuestos de coordinación presentan una rica química redox así como también procesos intramoleculares de transferencia de carga y/o energía convirtiéndose en excelentes candidatos para el estudio de las reacciones de reconversión ambiental. Los macrociclos se utilizan para modificar diversas superficies electródicas para optimizar el proceso de reducción de CO2.

Con la irrupción de los líquidos iónicos como medio de reacción verde, hemos ampliado el horizonte de nuestra línea de investigación usando estos nuevos solventes para la reconversión de dióxido de carbono en presencia de otros sustratos como aminas o epóxidos, con el objeto de obtener, en condiciones suaves, productos de mayor valor agregado tales como uretanos o carbonatos cíclicos respectivamente.

La caracterización de las superficies se logra a través de técnicas espectroscópicas como UV-Visible, FT-IR-ATR Raman, mediante técnicas electroquímicas, espectro-electroquímica y microscopía de barrido electroquímico. La morfología se estudia por SEM-EDX y AFM. Las propiedades electrocatalíticas se estudian por voltametría cíclica, electrodo de disco rotatorio, electrólisis a potencial controlado y espectroscopía de impedancia electroquímica.
