The research lines of our laboratory approach different strategies of reconversion and storage of energy, either through the storage of energy in materials or in the transformation of energy from natural sources. In order to meet our goals, the synthesis of new compounds is carried out.

Finally, their tests are carried out as storage or conversion of energy. In the characterization of these new compounds are used techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), surface area determination, FT-IR, NMR, electrochemistry, photo-electrochemistry, to mention some.

The compounds generated correspond, in general, to coordination compounds, which possess great capacity to be modified at will. By modifying the coordination compounds, it is possible to generate molecular supra-structures, such as coordination polymers or specifically Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for energy storage or new complexes that have greater efficiency in energy transformation. MOFs are supramolecular structures constituted by the union of organic ligands with metal ions. These molecular networks have the ability to store gases, such as CO2 and hydrogen.
